Need Help with q-see 600TVL cam acting up

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I installed a system that a client purchased and a few of the cameras are acting up. The installation consists of a 32 channel Q-See dvr with 24 cameras most of them are 600tvl bullet cameras and three are cheapy dome ptz installed at a warehouse. I used honeywell siamese cable for most runs and used the power supplies and splitters that came with the system because the customer wanted to use them. The issue is with some of the bullet cameras going in and out of IR mode and one is stuck in IR mode. There's plenty of light and the cameras are 25ft up on beams. I've reset the DVR and reset the cameras but no luck.....

Anyone have experience with this? Any advise would be great. I really don't want to have to rent a lift just to change out the cameras unless it's a bad camera that the manufacturer can warranty.

I reset the cameras but no luck.....

How did you 'reset' those cameras? You could try separate power adapters for them just to see if it helps, but it's likely you got a few bad cameras in the bunch. Better to RMA for new ones since it is new, rather than dealing with fussy cameras.

I unplugged the power supply for 10 counts and plugged it back in. I've had some cameras with bad IR sensors in which the reset fixed the problem. Could it possibly be related to lack of enough power to the camera??

It could very well be a power issue for some of the camera problems. Power supplies/splitters that come with some systems work ok on low current cameras, but if you add higher current camera's, the camera's will be "sick". Also, the size and length of the power wires to the camera's can affect operation. On a system like you're talking about, I would go the "wall mount case style" power supplies to supply power. To start with, hook only one of the camera's that you're having an issue to one of your power supplies and see if the issue changes. Let us know what you find out.
