mr_sanpablo 0 Posted April 6, 2013 QUESTION? what do you call the new feature of dvrs coming out lately where you dont have to configure IP addresses, ddns, and port forwarding to enable remote viewing access. you just have to put in the serial number and a password to view the cameras. BTW, im asking so i will know whether the dvr i will buy online has this feature. thanks FYI: most ISP's here in the phillippines cant forward ports from the router, so the feauture im asking above is greatly needed in most cases of remote viewing here in the philippines.. Securame 0 Posted April 6, 2013 UPnP is for the port forwarding; the DVR will "speak" with your router, and let it know what ports it needs forwarded. Your router must also support UPnP for this to work. DDNS is something completely different, but many different DVR manufacturers support different DDNS services.
