Numb-nuts 1 Posted April 13, 2013 Hello is there any difference in passive baluns?I see them on ebay in 20 packs for $10 bucks and i see them in us sites for $14 per pair???? Im using some of the cheap ones...just curious what the difference is? thanks My take is that since your whole aim is to receive and record a signal, it's not worth having great equipment only to skimp on the weakest link between the recorder and the camera. I have found that on accaision the cheap one's freeze the image. Also they don't always match multi channel baluns so can be a waste of money. If you are using a few over short distances I suppose you won't notice the difference too much. For little more per camera, the baluns can make a lot of difference The more expensive baluns tend to not pick up phase hum as readily. I also notice that the cheaper ones aren't as reliable over distances as the more expensive CONCLUSION. You get what you pay for. be lucky...
