vandi 0 Posted April 18, 2013 We are moving our business to a new and larger location that is a standalone building. As part of the build out we need to put a CCTV system in place. I've looked at exacq, milestone and a few others for NVR software. From a camera standpoint we are going to have roughly 5 interior and 2 exterior. I'm putting a second PoE switch in place (already have 1 for the phones) and will be setting up a VLAN for the NVR and IP cameras. I would like to know what opinions are out there regarding software (is the ACTi NVR good enough?) and camera selection options. At this point I'm a blank slate and reading as much as possible so any input at all is greatly appreciated. I'm open to using an existing server, a prebuilt NVR or any other options that haven't even shown up on my radar yet. Thanks in advance for the help! BTW ... Not looking at the Costco pricepoint here ... salsa and security just don't mix.
bigglebowski 0 Posted April 18, 2013 The ACTI NVR3 may be enough for you and you will be able to upgrade to one of the brands you mentioned if you dont like it. This assumes though you go with all ACTI cameras or the few other brands and models they support. Why dont you try one of their cameras and test it out and see what you think. If you are going with proper brands Im sure you can work with a distributor that would take it back if you feel you need something different, especially if you buy the replacements from them. You could also demo the other software in the meantime too.

vandi 0 Posted April 19, 2013 I'm digging deeper on the ACTi website and it looks like there are multiple versions of ACTi NVR. What should I be looking at here?
