boulete 0 Posted April 19, 2013 I am an french electrician (sorry for my english). I work usually on TV antenna (DVB T and S). I want connected 3 ptz dome with standard coax (same as antenna) RG6. I want use crimp connectors F http://www.digicorp-distribution.fr/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/f/i/file_2_70.jpg with F to BNC adapter http://www.ebay.fr/itm/BNC-male-plug-to-F-type-female-connector-threaded-socket-adaptor-RG59-RG6-CT100-/350558243448?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item519ee64a78#ht_733wt_919. What do you think about that solution ? Thank you
vector18 1 Posted April 19, 2013 The less means of patch the better. Just buy RG6 BNC's. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-10-New-Premium-BNC-Compression-Connector-for-RG6-RG-6-RG-6-/140919348691?pt=US_Surveillance_Cables_Adapters_Connectors&hash=item20cf729dd3
the toss 0 Posted April 19, 2013 just do it properly and use RG59

For exemple we have 3 type of coax (for tv): - 21 vatc (21db lost for 100 meter at 800 mhz) - 19 vatc (19db lost for 100 meter at 800 mhz) - 17 vatc (17db lost for 100 meter at 800 mhz) I use this I think (google search) rg6 is same 19 vatc. But I use 17 vatc and i dont know if bnc compression connector (for rg6) are compatible with it. thank you
boulete 0 Posted April 19, 2013 just do it properly and use RG59 Ok but coax tv cable is not better than RG59 ? For me it's simple to use coax tv because it's my job BUT if you say "not good idea" i will change my plan.
GrouchoBoucho 0 Posted April 19, 2013 rg6 and rg59 are both 75 ohm impedance and fine for cctv. crimp-on f connectors and an f-to-bnc adapter will also work fine. and yes, i know this from experience. you *don't* want to use a 50-ohm cable like rg58, though. more important is that you use cable with solid copper center conductor (not copper-clad steel), and 95% or better braided copper shield (not foil-and-drain-wire). boulete 0 Posted April 19, 2013 Ok if i understand, it's most important to use copper and good shield rather than one better coaxial (tv sat coax). That is correct? My store has only kx6 (flexible multistranded) coaxial (not rg59) do you think it's compatible with compression connectors for rg59 ? This model has a center pin separate. http://www.ebay.fr/itm/10X-CCTV-Compression-BNC-Male-Connector-Plug-for-Coaxial-RG59-Cable-CCTV-Camera-/390441067385?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item5ae819e379#ht_4786wt_982 Could you advice for compresion tool ? I need a tool compression for bnc (of course) and F connectors. i see this: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/1PCS-F-BNC-RCA-RG6-RG59-COMPRESSION-TOOL-FITTING-COAXIAL-CABLE-Stripping-knife-/221047781836?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33777979cc#ht_3754wt_1004 http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Compression-Pliers-Tool-for-BNC-RCA-F-connector-crimping-tool-RG-59-RG-6-RG11-/221125132955?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337c15c29b http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Compression-Pliers-Tool-for-F-BNC-RCA-crimping-TOOL-RG-58-3C-RG-59-4C-RG-6-5C-/320917297746?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab8295a52 http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Compression-Pliers-Tool-for-F-BNC-RCA-connector-crimping-tool-RG-59-4C-RG-6-5C-/320961164717?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4abac6b5ad Thank you very much. I'm lost
the toss 0 Posted April 19, 2013 rg6 and rg59 are both 75 ohm impedance and fine for cctv. crimp-on f connectors and an f-to-bnc adapter will also work fine. and yes, i know this from experience. you *don't* want to use a 50-ohm cable like rg58, though. more important is that you use cable with solid copper center conductor (not copper-clad steel), and 95% or better braided copper shield (not foil-and-drain-wire). There is so much more to take into account than impedance. The bottom line is - RG6 has lower HF losses than RG59 ( it is desugned for RF frequencies ) RG6 has lower DC losses than RG59 ( it uses heavier guage copper ) RG6 can be harder to run due to physical properties RG6 is more vulnerable to low frequency noise ( <50Mhz ) CCTV baseband signals are 5.5 - 6.5 Mhz So - if your runs are more than about 250m and are in a low noise environment and are easy to lay then RG6 will probably be ok. I hold by the premise that RG6 is designed for RF signals & RG59 is designed for baseband signals.

ak357 0 Posted April 20, 2013 CCTV baseband signals are 5.5 - 6.5 Mhz You probably meant to say baseband signals are from about 25 Hz - 5.5.-6.5 MHz
boulete 0 Posted April 20, 2013 Ok, my installation does not exceed 40 meters by line BUT i will put the cable in cable tray with 220V cables. What do you think about that? Thank you again
the toss 0 Posted April 20, 2013 I don't think much of that.
Kawboy12R 0 Posted April 20, 2013 Don't run them with 220. Bad idea for both safety and video quality reasons.
boulete 0 Posted April 20, 2013 Ik thank you Do you now twist on bnc connectors ? http://www.ebay.fr/itm/BNC-Twist-Screw-ON-Plug-Male-Connector-for-CCTV-RG59-Coaxal-Cable-50-Pack-/290781058932?pt=UK_CCTV&var=&hash=item43b3e6d774#ht_1291wt_1414 It's compatible with kx6 cable flexible and multistranded (not rg59) ? It's a good product ? thank you
Kawboy12R 0 Posted April 20, 2013 Do you now twist on bnc connectors ? No I don't. Never used them. I'm not a cctv pro so I've got limited experience with different coax cable types, connectors, etc for cctv.
barks 0 Posted April 20, 2013 I would recommend compression connectors although they are more expensive and need a tool to install. There are all types of compression connectors available for a variety of cables. Here is a video installing BNC on RG-6.
