planters49 0 Posted April 19, 2013 I'm doing research on a CCTV system for my house. I need some help on what to start looking at. I have my house wired with many cat 6 runs so I would like to make use of the cat 6 cables to connect the cameras to the DVR if possible. The system needs the following: DVR (would like to record at least 1 month at a time) 6 outdoor cameras to start with that can record at night 3-4 indoor cameras I live in the southern US so we have temps that vary from 20F to 100F. All cable runs would be less than 150 feet except 2 which would be about 175 feet. My only experience with security cameras is a low quality swann "box kit" that I'm not really happy with. Thanks! ron352 0 Posted April 21, 2013 I just ordered one of these dvr's a 16 port with 1 TB HD which is a very good price seeing it has a hard drive and free shipping http://www.ebay.com/itm/260810614435?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 I have tried many cameras, and so far as price and quality I found these Dome cameras to do best at night. They are pricey but I can get the same ones for $85.00 each http://cctvdirectbuy.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=429 Only thing is you have cat wiring and these use BNC connectors where you would run Siamese wire to carry both power and video to the cameras. planters49 0 Posted April 21, 2013 Thanks for the links. From what I can researched, I can use buans in order to use the cat 6 on BCN cameras, correct?
