icu 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Tried searching throught the forums but could not find anything relevant... My question is simple...is it possible to store a DVR in a wall mounting gun safe (or would it be too restrictive in terms of air flow)... Thanks in advance... VST_Man 1 Posted November 19, 2005 I was where you are and never tried it, but was going to until I figured out that I could remote the Hard Drive via USB cable (80ft.) to a hidden location. USB cables can carry the signal without any loss or noticable reduction in data transfer. And, another cable going into the attic is just that. A thief or otherwise would spend hours location the "Video evidence". Not dure if a standaolne can do USB storage but I am a PC Based (VideoInsight) guy. Works great. My guess on the safe is it would be too hot, no air flow. You would have to improve that. Why not install a DVR lockable enclosure?
CSG 0 Posted November 20, 2005 I've done it with DM Sprite 2 DVR in safes ,no problems, the heat is disipated inside the safe. Not exactly sure what you mean by a wall mounted unit. If youre still concerned about heat you can use a hole saw and install a 12v muffin fan.
