eyecu 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I cut the cord on a plug and play camera. Can they be easily spliced together and still work? The yellow video and the red power plugs. These appear to be vey delicate and tiny wires.
C7Installer 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I've done it before, but it's a bit of a pain because of the very small gauge wires. if you must splice it, be careful when stripping the jacket. Since the wires are so fine, you can end up loosing strands if you're not careful. I soldered the wires after twisting, then used shrink tubing to seal the deal. baywatch 1 Posted November 21, 2005 Yes they are easily joined, but be careful that you don't pull wires out of the plug when stripping insulation off.
VST_Man 1 Posted November 21, 2005 I'd solder them, heat srink tubing, and use a heat sync to keep the insulation on the wires from melting. telecomm butt splice conectors also work great without all the pain. http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi I'd use the smalled yellow ones.
