tibibond 0 Posted May 8, 2013 Hello!! I wonder if i can use ftp cat5 cable( foiled twisted pair) for the video signal and the power for cctv cameras! I plan to use it over 60m! I m asking because i ordered accidentaly ftp cable and not utp, that i understand is best suited for my needs! So is the foil used in ftp cable cause interferance and i should try yo return the cable and get upt cable? Or i can use this ftp cable for video and power? I will use pasive video baluns if that mathers and for power i i will use a 12volts power adapter!
foresight 0 Posted May 13, 2013 Yes, the STP Cable should be fine for 60M.

jodie 0 Posted June 4, 2013 You might consider bonding a couple pair together for your power instead of a single 22-24 AWG. Other than that - it'll work fine. We carry power and video out to cameras over twisted pair all the time, with passive or active baluns depending upon distance, out to 3000' or so.
