NVR system comparable to Milestone xProtect Coporate

I would like to ask, if you have some information and real experience (not just datasheet marketing information) with systems comparable to Milestone xProtect Corporate.

 

I want to find some competitive product. I'm wondering if is possible to use some other product, because the SUP for one year is price for Corporate little high, and when the customer pays for software licences such high price and don't have support for some time is strange :/

 

Very simply, the main point is to serve 2000+ 1.3Mpx cameras, question is only about IP NVR software for servers and of course some CMS sw

 

system is planned on blade server solution with external storage systems, HW part is already dimensed, (e.g. for xProtect one blade server with two CPU octacore Xeon serves 256 cameras)

You may look at Bosch Video Management or BVMS as they refer to it. Other than the price how was your experience with Milestone? We have just taken them on as a new vendor but I don't have much experience with their product yet and I'd like to get the thoughts of someone with who has worked with the product. Thanks.

we start to install milestone xprotect about one year ago, we have many "essential" version, few "express" versions where was multimonitor, or system integration needed and two "enterprise" licence installation.

 

stability of system is excellent, also users which use these systems have very good experience. Very good device support, and also devices not listed in list and compatible with onvif works good. Also the database split for recording and archiving database is very good idea. Work with playback is excellent. Very good is also integration of other systems (security exchange, digital IO, or POS terminals etc)

 

But also has some points, that is little problematic

for example,

- for smart client maximum of 4 monitors

- for express and essential is not enabled guard tour for PTZ (only in professional, but why i have to pay so much for licenses, when i want to use simple systems with 5 PTZ?)

- in client its problem to set lower resolution in cameras in matrix (you dont want to stream fullHD resolution, when you have 2x3matrix) the first lower quality (marked as Super high resolution) it looks like 320/240px and the lower resulition - high, medium, low are not usable at all. So we have to stream original size of the picture

- managing of views for users is only from client..

 

And of course the SUP licensing is litle bit problematic to understand for our customers.. The main licence is not cheap, and when you dont buy SUP, in license price you don't have support at all (OK i understand), but in future (lets say 1year) when you want to upgrade system with some new cameras and you dont have valid SUP, you have to pay licencses for whole system again.. - little bit strange, not?
