eythor 0 Posted May 13, 2013 Hi guys I pretty new at this so I am looking for advice here. A farmer asked me for remote ptz viewing setup to be able to look after his sheep, the distance is over 150m so I´m going for wireless solution here ( wi-fi ) and that should not be a problem. But in order to be able to control the ptz camera via pc/phone(standalone no dvr) ...well what can I do? No experience in installing PTZ cameras...yet are we talking about somethign like this ? http://www.surveillance-spy-cameras.com/network-webcam.htm
cableguy101 0 Posted May 13, 2013 The product that your looking at is actually a wireless encoder in order for it to work you have to make sure that it has RS-485 controls. What I would recommend is using an IP camera with on board storage like this one. https://www.samsung-security.com/products/security-cameras/network-cameras/ptz-domes/SNP-5200H.aspx I haven't used this model before but I have used samsung ptz cameras in the past with great success. As for communication I would go with a point to point wireless bridge. For the distance you specified I would go with this. http://www.ubnt.com/airmax#nanostationm It's a rock solid product with lots of throughput and very competitively priced. In order to control the camera you just need to be able to connect to it. Samsung has mobile apps available for Iphone and Android. Make sure to go with a class 10 SD card since it is HD. Good Luck!
