pgt313 0 Posted May 19, 2013 Hello everyone, I'm glad i finally found what looks like an active forum. I'll cut to the chase. I have a QNAP 559 Pro II which I use for pretty much everything, but it also comes with Qnap's Surveillance Station Pro which makes it ready as a NVR. So now I want to add 4 POE cameras for residential use (outdoor dome and/or bullet with IR), but the compatibility list of QNAP sucks! I can't seem to find cameras that will be compatible with it that aren't $600+. And yes I realize I will need a POE power supply. My questions to you are: 1) Does anyone know any cameras that will work great with the QNAP? If so can you please link me? 2) Even if I get those cameras, is the QNAP 559 Pro II even decent as a NVR? 3) Am I crazy to even want to use the qnap? Or should I not waste my time and buy a Costco system. (like lorex or qsee which seem to have all the features i want) If you could help me out i would be very appreciative. I've been looking on and off for over a year and it's very frustrating. Thanks! -Peter

JoeyJoey 0 Posted May 20, 2013 Or should I not waste my time and buy a Costco system. (like lorex or qsee which seem to have all the features i want) That is exactly what I did. I have two QNAPs that work great for a NAS device, but the surveillance station hardly supports any cameras. They stopped supporting that and created the pro version, where you have to pay a per camera license. I got a Lorex IP camera system, it is stuck the windows client, which I hate, but it seems all of them are.
