Which Costco Security/Surveillance recommended to buy?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Newbie here.

I was in the process of building and setting up a dedicated computer for using a Blue Iris security system.

Unfortunately, I have run out of time and absolutely MUST have a Security/Surveillance System set up within a two week period [we are moving to a new location].

I will continue to do my very best to learn how to set up the various cameras I have purchased with the Blue Iris software. I have also decided [with the good advice I received at CAM IT! forums] to purchase and install an alarm system too.

My present needs are for a Security/Surveillance System preferably purchased from Costco that will offer 24/7 technical support. I trust Costco because I believe they are a great company and when I spoke to their administration, they informed me that Costco has a tech support team as well [above and beyond the 3rd party vendors]. Not sure if this is really true.

Many of the Costco reviews I read from the Lorex Brand contained descriptions of the incredible 24/7 tech support Lorex offers with their equipment.

While I am learning how to use Blue Iris and my new cameras, I would like to purchase a complete security system with 4-10 cameras. Costco offers a large selection of choices. Which Costco Security/Surveillance System do you recommend I use while learning to use BI with my newly arrived Dericam's and Empire cameras?

I absolutely MUST have my new location secure before moving in. My budget is around $1000-$1200.

24/7 tech support is an absolute must.

Can anyone give me advice based upon personal experience? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Please help me out if you can.

I would like to stay away from the analog versions.

Thank you!

Soar

PS Here's a Security/Surveillance System from Costco offer that caught my eye:

I'm thinking about the same system. I hope someone answers this thread.

I had recently bought a Lorex wireless system (not HD) and found it to be terrible. The wireless range was barely 30 feet (through one wall), the video quality was poor, and the motion detection software was useless. Support took more than a week to respond to simple questions, with trivial non-answers. I returned the whole thing, so I hesitate to get another Lorex.

I'd really prefer a wireless 1080P system, but I guess wireless isn't quite up to the task, at least not in systems under a couple of grand.

I don't get it you already have IP cameras and Blue Iris, what are you struggling with? Why go out and buy the exact same thing (another NVR and IP cameras) if you already have them?
