greatlabtec 0 Posted June 16, 2013 I have three WIFI IP cams all up and running off one router. We are on a tight budget so was wondering if I bought a network capable DVR and attached this to the same router (via ethernet cable) if this would pick up the WIFI cams, maybe after a bit of tweaking and inputting the camera IP addresses? I know i can use a PC and that the cams have there own software to view them remotely, I just want a dedicated DVR to do the job instead. I looked at hybrid and NVR systems but these are more expensive. Has anyone tried the above? would it work. Thanks in advance.
Oliver1 0 Posted June 16, 2013 A network capable dvr will allow you to watch analogue cameras through a modem. A dvr will only receive analogue data from analogue cameras. You could give it a go, but it would be like plugging a microphone into a fridge. You need an nvr, or if you don't want to spend any money just get milestone on the pc.
