kandcorp 0 Posted December 2, 2005 I have a customer with 10 PTZ's. They will be controlled off of our PC Based DVR. We are using a rs-485 to rs-232 convertor to utilize the com port on the back of the PC. Who has run a PTZ off a similar system, GEO-Vision, etc..... And how far has your total Loop Distance been for the communication cat-5 cable? Thank You
scottj 0 Posted December 2, 2005 We have used Nitek equipment (Active Video Balun w/Data) and their UTPLink recievers for controlling PTZ's over Cat5e with no problems at all. Most of the distances were around 2000'-2300' feet max, but I believe Nitek has different module receivers that will accomodate the 3000' need. 470 0 Posted January 19, 2006 ive installed several ptz's on geovision setups. always use the Geo I/O card and mostly use the panasomic WV-CS850/854's) and get 1700+ feet without an issue. the I/O card is cheap as chips and keeps everything from the same manafacturer.
