galaxy60 0 Posted December 4, 2005 Has any one had any luck replacing a faulty hard drive with any of the DS2 range as there tec support inform me there DVRS use embeded software but I have heard that some of the operating system is also stored on the hard drive. SeanMort 0 Posted December 4, 2005 Hi Galaxy60, got your PM re this matter and sent you a reply. The DM DS2 is not a true embedded system. The master HDD does indeed contain the OS to drive this unit but it does have a sort of BIOS firmware embedded though. For the price of these units I think DM could have engineered something better. CSG 0 Posted December 4, 2005 For whats its worth DM does have a decent warranty program, so if the unit is under 2 years old it may not pay to change the drive yourself.
