bruzza 0 Posted July 17, 2013 Hi all, first time poster and relativly new to the CCTV world, just wanting to find some help. I have an older DS2 DVTU unit which runs the networkviewer software (old software). The software works fine internally and externally, however the web based networkviewer only produces video when running inside the network. Now i really wanted to get NetVu working on this because it has more functionality plus it has the iPhone app which is the main reason. Both apps PC and iPhone app work fine when connected inside the network via wifi, however when connecting externally i cant connect, the iPhone brings up a message saying "no vaild video stream, operation not permitted" and the the NetVu pc software also dosent connect. Using NetVu inside the network via wifi does work however even on the iphone. I haved tried to connect via user account and admin with no luck i have also tried different port configs my current setup has it linked to a dyndns.org account, has port 80, 8234 and 8235 fowarwed and not blocked. I can access the webapp externally (no video but), networkviewer.exe work fines externally. Model DS2 Version 3.1 (169)-NET(DVTU) I installed that myself from the web It is a chubb unit if that also helps (im presuming its an older DS2 as the webapp on gives you options for the web viewer, and networkviewer app, no settings or admin stuff) By all accounts i have checked on the web it suggests that it should have partial NetVu capability or be able to be upgraded? I just cant seem to get it working What am i missing?? Cheers

bruzza 0 Posted July 19, 2013 Hi thanks, great to see i can do it! However those instructions make no sense at all! The most i have ever done is put the new software on the on hd and let the DVR set it self up (Version 3.1 (169)-NET(DVTU) Any more details that explain it a little better? am i actually updating firmware or just doing the same as i did before to set up the unit from scratch onto a new HD? Thanks

If you perform the procedure - the recorder will have firmware 4.0 (85) ... However those instructions make no sense at all! More details why? Do you really read all of the instructions? Do also read the attached below (contained in the zipped files)?
bruzza 0 Posted July 20, 2013 Sorry I'm still confused! I've downloaded the (165) DVTX firmware, inside the zip is a document on how to install via ftp. That's seems easy enough, can I just do that? Mine is a DVTU however? Does that release also hold 4.0 in it maybe?? Thanks
treborsz 0 Posted July 20, 2013 This is just part of the procedure... It is necessary in a subsequent step convertion to NetVue Connected version.

NetVu ObserVer App for iPhone Did that and it corrupted the bootloader on a ds2a(dvtu) So NEVER Try to do this unless you need a useless dead box thats expensive to fix
