Zmodo 8 chan no audio

Hello,

 

I just bought a new 8 channel DVR with 1TB drive, and no cameras. I already have a 4 channel DVR in another part of the house and sound recording works great. I installed the new DVR with the 4 previous cameras I already own. I added a standalone CCTV mic, and plugged it into Chan 3 A-IN. I plugged in a amplified speaker to Audio out connector, and enabled "Mic and Audio" on Chan 3. When I play back the recordings on that channel I get some noise and ticking sound when I crank up the volume but no recorded audio. I plugged the new microphone into the speaker set and the microphone works great.

 

It seems that this unit has defective audio input or output. (I also tried other Channels and they don't work either).

I did a test to see if it's input or output bad.

I copied a recording to USB and when played back there's no sound. So audio-in must be bad.

Will have to return for exchange.
