OK so how do I get around this issue if at all ???

Recommended Posts

Ok guys,

Finally decided to break down and buy this system from Costco: http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-Full-HD-Real-Time-PoE-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-Hard-Drive-and-6-1080p-Cameras.product.100048576.html

My BIG questions is since this is a POE system, do I have to worry about my IP on my modem changing from Comcast making it impossible for me to view my cameras when the IP does change? If so is there any way arround this without getting a business account from Comcast for my home?

Thanks!

The NVR will have a DDNS field that you will fill out and the NVR will send the new IP to the ddns server if your modem changes.

When you view your NVR remotely, you enter the ddns server info, not the IP of your modem.

Yup, easy peasy. I have static IP so not an issue, but this is the painless solution for dynamic IPs. Swann has a server for setting up a DDNS (swanndvr.net) and Lorex may have one too.
