COAX to IP cameras

hi, all, right now, i have COAX and power , utilizing HD SDI for 1080p.

But thinking about going the IP way.

 

I know i need to get a BALUN.. any suggestions on which one to get??

or if this setup is possible?

Are you planning to put the baluns on the coax cable? Because if you are this will not work, you would need a media converter and they are much more money.

 

As for Baluns Watchnet, Muxlab, Gem Electronics, NVT just to name a few.

I have RG59 and power already...

so converting the COAX to IP and then power the camera...

That is fine, those will allow you to send the video over the existing coax, but you will still need to use a poe injector, those aren't going to do anything about power for you.

 

This is what you would need:

 

Camera > POE Injector > Media Converter

 

This will allow you to power a poe ip camera and send the video down a coax cable.

 

Why not just use the existing coax to pull cat5? Attach the CAT5 to the coax and pull.
