need help on what card and software I need

I need to know exactly what add on card and software I need.

 

let me fill you in on what I have:

 

I have an existing 'running' Geovision system in our bar, it works fine, but the pc is slowly dying.

 

so in the meantime, I am building a New backup system.

this is what I have in the NEW system so far:

 

1. I have a new fast 32 bit pc, and a brand new GV800(S) card in it. It works fantastic, thanks

good card!!!!!!!!!!

 

I tested the new computer at my home and it works fine and broadcasts.

this is what I have in the current OLD system:

 

a GV800(v3 or v2) card

 

POS integration, where we can see in real time, text info from a POS terminal overlaid

on a video cam screen.

 

also, on the bottom right corner in the webcam viewer, under the round button we use for view log, if I click on "POS LIVE" I see a pop up in the right corner that shows in real time, all POS transactions

 

that is what we like

 

-behind the POS terminal, there is a data capture box

it says on top of it: "Geovision GV data capture"

 

on the back, it says digital capture 1.04

 

and "for home or office: 04014687

 

there is a cable from that box to a POS printer

and a data cable form "RS232 " all the way to our fron office pc is and the geovision server.

 

now in the old computer there is an extra add-on card.

This is what I need for the new computer.

 

this card is small. It is mounted in the pc under the GV800, but is is NOT directly plugged in to the motherboard.

(so PCI or PCIE is not an issue , ha ha)

 

the little card is not internally connected to anything inside the pc except for a power plug.

 

but............... it IS connected externally,

 

there is a small data cable plugged into it from the POS data capture box

 

then there is another cable from the card to a connector on the pc that looks almost like a VGA 15 pin connector

 

but after looking inside, I think its a SERIAL port

 

so in total, there are 2 cables plugged into this little add on board.

 

the board says on it:

Geovision

and "for home or office, 04015294)

I need to know what card to buy and software that I can put in my new pc that integrates POS like on our old system

 

I do not have a serial port on my pc, but I have lots of USB,

I assume there are cards that use that instead?
