aenima2403 0 Posted August 13, 2013 The file format of my DVR is H.264. Is it possible to recover deleted files from it? Thanks
Robin2 0 Posted August 15, 2013 The file format is not important. Deleting files does not actually delete anything. It just labels the file as "this place can be overwritten" in an index file. You must make sure to stop writing to the hard disk before that space will be overwritten. Overwriting it complicates things. This is a operating system/ harddisk question. It comes down to having the right skills or simply finding the right software tool to undelete the files. It helps to know the operating system used (and to a lesser degree sometimes the format sceme is usefull to know). Usually that is written in the manual or can be asked at the vendor/ manufacturer. The manufacturer may even have a tool for it that he can provide to you so you can hang the harddisk in your computer and recover the deleted files. When files are erased AND overwritten it becomes more complicated to recover them. You could try a recovery software tool and if the images are important to you I suggest going to a data recovery company. It will cost you but chances are that they can recover the desired data (sometimes even when overwritten). What are you trying to recover and from what hardware?
