orkan 0 Posted December 16, 2005 Hi guys! I'm new to CCTV, so excuse me for posible stupid questions... =) I'm trying to setup CCTV, and using GV-800 card... But having problems connecting cameras to it. If I connect it with 60ft coax, 59U cable - theq work fine... But if I try to connect them with 110 or 160 ft coax, same 59U - it won't work. I checked the cable, and there are no damage... Another thing - I have 6 pieces going togather all 110 ft, but not sure if that would affect signal... Only one piece is used at one time... (I didn't finish wiring yet ) So... not sure what do I do with it... BTW - I'm using SYNETLINK BL-328D camera, and also tried to hook up 4 other camera, but not sure about brand/model, cause there is no label... Can anybody help? =) Thanx! Thomas 0 Posted December 16, 2005 Some things that might help clairfy: Is that six cables going 110 ft total or six cables that go 110 ft each? Is there something like high voltage wiring along the path of the long cable? Is the camera getting the proper power? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
orkan 0 Posted December 16, 2005 it's 6 cables running the same route (they actually zip-tied) for 110 ft, then 3 of them goes 30 ft more... High voltage wiring - most probably 110V few runs along the way... Camera is getting proper power for sure. used all the same, just different cables. Thomas 0 Posted December 16, 2005 In simple terms? Power lines are bad. The shielding on coax stops random RF/stray noise but it's not rated to stop the kind of field that 110v AC power puts out. How close are the cables to the power? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
orkan 0 Posted December 16, 2005 I mean 110V is shielded... Will that help? How badly 110V will affect signal? I canot check how close 110V to coax right now. But I will after biz hours... orkan 0 Posted December 22, 2005 OK, all cables pulled out, and just lie on the ground, away from any other wires. Still - camers won't work. Tried 4 different cameras, and 2 different pieces of cable: 110 ft and 150 ft. but still, 60 ft piece works perfectly... I'm totally confused... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

orkan 0 Posted December 22, 2005 We use GV-800 card, and I see no switches, at least on outside... Should I look inside the server? It works with short cable... If the switch was wrong - would it work? Also I tried to connect directly to TV, and same pattern repeats. short one works, long one does not. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

There might be a clue as to what the cause is if you can describe exactly what you are doing and what the results are. orkan 0 Posted December 22, 2005 Ok, BNCs I've checked few times, they are fine, I even repatched the cables few times. What I'm able to see - is just blank black screen on TV, or Blue screen with "Video Lost" message in GV-800. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
rory 0 Posted December 22, 2005 try powering one of the cameras closer to the camera .. or direct at one of them with an extension cord, you need to find out if it is a power or video issue. That or meter the power coming into the camera .. but still .. what kind of power cable are you using? 18AWG or thinner? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
