Mercyxx76xx 0 Posted August 25, 2013 Hi all, Need some help, I work in a pub, and what we want to do (which i think is quite simple) is mount a cctv camera facing towards the dartboard so the darts teams can all see the dartboard very easily on the 40" HD ready tv that is mounted near the dartboard. Now Im guessing all I need is to wire the CCTV camera direct to a power source and then direct to the TV (as we dont need to record). So my question is what camera am I best off looking at, I was thinking something that could be manually zoomed in and focused on the dart board and then locked to that. I am from the uk and have seen this in maplins http://www.maplin.co.uk/professional-high-resolution-540tvl-ir-cctv-camera-352002 I was wondering if anyone knew what the quality was like and if this was a good camera up to the task I required, or if anyone could suggest something else. Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Mercedes xx
PokerMunkee 0 Posted August 25, 2013 Easiest way is to get the best analog camera you can (non IP) and connect it directly to the the TV. That camera you posted looks pretty good. You probably need a lens than go from 3-12mm. The IR might help if the bar is dark, also make sure it has WDR. If the TV has an a/v input (yellow, red, and white RCA jacks), you can use a BNC-to-RCA adapter to connect to the camera to the yellow video-in jack. The camera will need to plug into a wall outlet to get power.
Mercyxx76xx 0 Posted August 25, 2013 Hi thank you for the reply, The TV definitely has a A/V socket, sorry this is the first time I have really looked into cameras so could you please tell me what WDR is, also apart from that camera I posted are there any others you could recommend or any other special features I should look into. Thank you again xx
PokerMunkee 0 Posted August 25, 2013 Ignore the WDR part, probably won't find that on non-IP cameras. The camera you posted 4mm-9mm, so that should be plenty if you mount it in the correct place. Get the N68GR kit it recommends and you will be almost there. Watch this video on how to connect to your TV: This tells you exactly what you need and how to do it. Very simple once you get the parts ordered! Post some pics when you get it working!
Mercyxx76xx 0 Posted August 25, 2013 Thank you once again, I think I have got this pretty much sussed now, just so I got options for my manager dome/bullet I found this camera http://www.digitaldirectsecurity.co.uk/professional-series-vari-focal-low-light-colour-dome-camera.html which I think is roughly the same, please could you advise me thank you again xx
thewireguys 3 Posted August 25, 2013 If your TV is HD I would skip the analog camera. A 720x480 camera stretched to 1920x1080 doesn't look that good. I would use a HD-SDI camera with a HD-SDI to HDMI converter. This way you will have a full HD camera on your display.
