That is a good question. Many people have that same concern. You can have a 500 Milliamp power supply (transformer), that can have a camera rated at 300 Milliamp connected to it without worrying about damaging the camera. This is because the camera only uses the amount of power it needs. The 500 milliamps is not forced onto the camera. The more important issue is to make sure that the power supply you’re using to power the camera with has regulated voltage. The power supply should not fluctuate much from 12 volts.
