vasu 0 Posted September 13, 2013 We are planning to install CCTV in our apartment complex which has 12 units (12 apartments, Ground plus 4 floors, 3 apartments in each floor). In the ground floor we have car parking area and lobby, where DVR will be fixed, we plan to buy 16 channel DVR with at least 8 cameras around the complex in ground floor. My question now is, we want all the 12 apartment to view the cctv camera real time images. Is it possible to have multiple outputs from DVR to 12 TVs? We plan to install the DVR in the Ground floor and then distribute the signals from roof (terrace) to 12 apartments to avoid exposed wires (for hidden shafts). Total distance from DVR to terrace will be 40ft. Terrace to 1st floor will be 30 ft. Will there be signal loss? Will the images be clean? Please help. Thanks in advance Vasu. Securame 0 Posted September 13, 2013 Of course you can, you can use some video distributor. But it is probably easier to use a "modulator", so you can convert the video output from the DVR into a TV channel, and just deliver it to all apartments with their TV signals (assuming there is some kind of TV antenna shared by everyone). That way they will be able to see the cameras from any TV they already have.
vasu 0 Posted September 14, 2013 Thks Mind Twist for your quick reposnse, i really appreacite that. We don't have a common tv antenna on terrace (we have individual ones). What we plan to do is take cctv cables from DVR to terrace (to avoid exposed wires) through internal shafts and then distribute to individual apartments in different floors. Total maximum distance from DVR to apartment around 70 feet: Sir my question, will there be signal loss? or clarity will be less? We will use your method of Modulators. Securame 0 Posted September 14, 2013 Modulators are for converting a video signal into a Tv channel; if you would need one for each neighbour, that would be expensive. Will there be signal loss? Yes, if you connect from the DVR direct to 12 TVs with those cable length. You will surely need distributors and maybe amplifiers.
