djnickolas1 0 Posted September 20, 2013 Hello everyone, This is my first post on the forum, but I used this forum before as buying guide. I'm owner of two AVM542A IP camera's. Yesterday I updated the camera's with new firmware (1018-1012-1011-1010) from the manufactury website. For the first camera, everything went fine, the update was installed and I can see all new features. When updating the second camera (identical model, identical firmware), I got an error that the update failed. I do recall that only the last file out of 4 failed (xml.bin), altough i'm not 100% sure. I rebooted the camera and saw that the firmware version was updated, but the new features were not available, or at least not the new menu structure where I can configure them. Existing menu items are updated, for example extra parameters on existing configuration pages. I can compare with other camera. I also notice that the camera is acting differently (screen is upside down and no IR anymore). I tried to install the firmware again, but it fails, saying "ERROR: Firmware's product name of checksum is error". I tried to reset the camera via the connectors. The camera reboots itself, but the camera does not reset to its default values. I'm still able to logon with the same password (I expected the default), and also all my other settings were preserved, which I didn't expected. Since the 'reset', I see firmware version 0000-0000-0000-0000. I've tried to reset the camera multiple times when the camera is on, but it only reboots. Note that i'm using PoE, maybe that makes a difference. I also unplugged the RJ45 connector a few times, without luck however. I've contacted the reseller, but he has redirected me to AvTech's customer service. I created a service request via their website and I'm waiting for their response, but I'm probably to impatient... If anyone has experience with firmware upgrade and/or resetting to factory defaults on the AVM542A, please let me know, perhaps I'm overlooking something. Or if someone can help me in general, feel free to respond. Any help is welcome.
buellwinkle 0 Posted September 20, 2013 It may be a few days until they get back to you as it's a holiday in China but I'm sure they will. They were pretty response when I had issues.
