2nd Video output to Computer monitor ???

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 11 Camera system hooked up to the top of a 2 floor building, with an old b/w monitor bnc connection output from the old system. The system I put in, I was thinking of running some type of VGA->BNC->VGA output if there is "such" a thing.

Does anyone know how I would output the colour video from a computer (like a TV Wonder card or something) thru a BNC or other connection, back to a VGA female connection for an LCD computer monitor on the 2nd floor ?

There is already a BNC cable that has been fished, I would hope there is something easy to connect with that as opposed to refishing i different cable, but whatever would work, if someone can please assist.

Thanks,

snoop

I spent £££ trying to acheive this until i found,

http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=117&products_id=1014

It has vga pss through so you keep the monitor, then you have composite and s-video which output together so you can connect 2 seperate monitors.

The cable you have in already will connect via a rca (phono) at one end and whatever you require at the other end.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like it may have a DSP output, which is a yellow RCA output on the card ..? You can just use an RCA-BNC adaptor and will be much higher quality than using VGA. You can then program that output to view which cameras you want on it, well i dont know the DVR but with the Geo DSP you can either program specific cameras to be viewed, or just view what you see on the VGA monitor, but not the GUI, just the cameras.

This is what i do with the Geo DVRs.

yep, if you dont program anything, that output should just display the cameras in whichever view you have it on the main VGA monitor, its an analogue output so its going to be high quality on a CCTV Monitor. If you are converting it back to VGA the image will be a little worse though, as the highest quality you will ever get is on a CCTV Monitor. It may be different, but i would imagine its the DSP output. Notice i also use SVHS from the ATI Video card to the SVHS on the CCTV Monitor for highest quality playback, With Geo you can playback in Full screen, without the GUI, and in multi views.

Oh yeah, another thing, you could always use the RCA output from the Video card, if it has one, and use a RCA-BNC adaptor .. cant say how the quality will look though at the other end. If it has an SVideo output only you can buy a RCA-SVideo adaptor.

The TV will, but is only generally 300TVL approx, while the CCTV Monitors come in as high as 500-800TVL ... they will cost a little more but if you can get your hands on a 21" Color 450 or 500TVL one, would be better, last longer also. The Samsung 21" monitor is one we use alot.

if not, the TV will work.
