bklynsoulja 0 Posted October 8, 2013 hello guys, just trying find out of there any solder type connectors for cat5e? I been using those cheap premade ones something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/100FT-30M-Security-Camera-Video-Cable-Siamese-CCTV-BNC-Power-/271293480324?pt=US_Surveillance_Cables_Adapters_Connectors&hash=item3f2a59fd84 and i regret it as the connectors are always loose when connected to the dvr that if i move it the video gets distorted and have to keep moving the dvr or bnc connector to fix it. I am still adding cameras, i decided to use cat5e for whatever leftover and wonder if any1 know where i can find any type of solder bnc connectors? Also is it possible to use one cat5e cable for 2 cameras? like 2 twisted pair for the videos and 2 twisted pair for powers? camera will be 15 ft apart. the toss 0 Posted October 8, 2013 There is no problem running multiple cameras on one cat 5/6 cable as long as you keep power/distance requirements in mind. Those pre-made cables you have are nothing but shielded audio cable and are a constant source of grief. I have never seen a solder termination balun , only clamp or IDC. The termination of the cat 5/6 pair to the balun will be a point of possible fatigue or fracture for years to come.
