WannaBeGeekster 0 Posted October 15, 2013 Hello, I have the following equipment: WJ-HD316 DVR WV-CW974 Camera WV-CU650 Controller I have the WV-CU650 controller talking to the WJ-HD316 DVR just fine. The issue is the communication from the WJ-HD316 to the WV-CW974 camera. I have a CAT 5 cable ran from the camera to the DVR. I am using a Rj12 Keystone in the junction box where the camera balun is located. I am using the following six wires for the Keystone jack: 1. Green / White 2. Orange / White 3. Blue 4. Blue / White 5. Orange 6. Green I have verified that the colors on the RS485 cable coming from the camera are as follows: 1. Empty 2. Red 3. Orange 4. Yellow 5. Green 6. Empty I have terminated a RJ12 connector on the end of the CAT5 cable that plugs into the DVR. The colors are as follows: 1. Empty 2. Orange / White 3. Blue 4. Blue / White 5. Orange 6. Empty The DIP switch settings on the back of the DVR are as follows: SW 1: On - Terminate SW 2: Off - 4 Wire SW 3: Off - 4 Wire SW 4: On - Terminate SW 5: Off - 4 Wire SW 6: Off - 4 Wire SW 7: On - PSData Terminate System Controller device (System Controller is working just fine) SW 8: Off The camera is configured for 4 wire communication and the camera is also set for being terminated also. They are single runs. No daisy chaining going on here. One camera is configured as Unit # 3. The other is configured as Unit #4. The System is setup as Unit #1 and the controller is configured as Unit #2 in the WJ-HD316 setup menu. Baud rate is set for 19200. I have tried both RS-485 ports on the back of the unit. I am getting the configuration menu when I disconnect the power from the camera and plug it back in. It only stays up there for a short bit. The WV-CU650 is supposed to be able to go into the camera setup menu by the following keys on the device: Menu > Camera Setup > Enter > F1. When I do that On has a > by it for a second then goes away and of course the menu never shows up. So I am wondering if there is a compatibility issue or something else I am missing here. If anyone has any experience with this beast I would appreciate a helping hand here. Would even be willing to make it worth your time if you need something. Thanks, WBG
ukcctv 0 Posted October 16, 2013 why are you messing about with all those cat 5 cables blah blah blah? I have all that gear you have and loads of pany domes, and they all use up the coax one wire? ptz - dvr controller using up the coax? no need for anything else, the dvr sends the signal for the ptz through the coax
ukcctv 0 Posted October 16, 2013 the only cat5 cable I use is 2 wires to the dome for video via baluns, this is still "up the coax" put the pins on dome back to normal set the dvr to coax for the ptzs
WannaBeGeekster 0 Posted October 17, 2013 Awesome! I had a feeling today that I was making things harder than they should be. So I want to set the Unit # Jumpers (the block of to all off. Which is multiplex mode basically. Ok I will try this once it stops raining and see how it goes. I was trying to do that today and couldn't get up to the second story roof as it rained all afternoon. Thanks! Will report back how it goes. WBG

WannaBeGeekster 0 Posted October 18, 2013 Great news! That is exactly what the doctor ordered. Setting the dip switches to all off made it work immediately. After that is was a simple matter of getting the autotracking setup and the system was rocking and rolling. Very very nice setup. I am very impressed. Wish I had $75k per year of sales for Panasonic so I could become a partner with them. Anyway, thanks again for your help! Was very useful!
