Avemia DVR - Local web portal rejecting user ID and Password

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a complete Avemia 4 channel DVR system from a popular online store. The Avemia DVR (http://www.avemiausa.com/standalone/DVRL0405V.html) has a built in web server on TCP port 8090. If I point my browser at port 8090, an ActiveX component successfully installs and I am shown a login screen. The problem is, the dang thing will not accept any of the user ID or Password combinations I throw at it. The default user ID is "Admin" (case sensitive) and password is "888888". Does anyone have any experience with this model DVR? Keep in mind that this is all being done from the local LAN, not remotely over the Internet, so it's not a router port forwarding issue.

Thanks in advance,

Nate

The admin account may not be accessible via the internet, it could be a security feature, have you tried creating a second account, locally on the DVR using the admin account, say an account named remote, then try accessing it remotely via the new account.

Hello, and thank you for the suggestion. I did try to create another account, and that did not work either. I also tried to use the built in "user1" account with no success. On a positive note, all other network features are functioning such as e-mail notifications, iPhone (both local and remotely on port 10510), and the local GUI called DVR_View. If I could only get the web server at port 8090 to work, this thing would be a total success!

If you tried to get it to work without the 8090 port, it tries to use port 80 the default for http, this is often blocked by ISP to stop people from hosting web servers on their internet connections.

SectorSecurity,

Thanks for the reply, and the prompt for me to log back in and provide an update to the CCTV forum.

I was able to finally get the port 8090 server to accept my login credentials!

First, I went into the advanced properties for Internet Explorer and hit the "reset" button to restore all IE defaults, clear cache, disable browser helpers and ActiveX controls. I then went to port 8090, and viola! The DVR now accepted my login credentials. Needless to say, I'm very happy now.

I then re-installed the Google toolbar and the problem resurfaced. It seems all along that it was the popup blocker on the Google toolbar. My workaround was to tell the Google toolbar to always allow popups from the 8090 address.

Take care everyone!
