how about some info on what type of coverage you need, its very easy for someone to tell you get x of this camera, x of that camera, but unless you share your specific needs....

indoor or outdoor? if so what is each camera expected to cover, how big a area does each camera cover and how far does each need to look?

I would be looking at true day night cameras in heated housings. Now which ones is a matter for whats available to you locally. I like Samsung, Vantage and JVC but with your budget you might consider Pelco or some other high end brand. Withyor budget you might be better paying a professional or likely you'll end up with a hotch-potch of good and bad. It's not just a choice of choosing a brand, each camera has to have a suitable lens chosen, to suit a specific situation, lighting, distance, field of view, where it's looking, environmental issues too many small things for an amateur to even contemplate. Of course you could be lucky, but don't count on luck.

Thats one of the reasons we all make a living still even though Maplin and Costco would have everyone think that CCTV is a Valid DIY medium. ITS NOT. What those places sell are general purpose compromises at best but now every clever-cloggs thinks he can install a system.

Best of luck...

I don't have enough information and I don't know what the topography is so I am not in a position to make and reccomendations at this point. Unless you are willing to go out and take light readings with a lux meter... for analogue not Hikvision.

I think I mentioned Pelco ....?
