Swann, Lorex, or Q-see HD NVR Setup?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, first off thank you in advance for any help and replies. I have had a 4 wheeler and dirt bike stolen within the past week and now I have decided to up my surveillance system from the crap zmodo steup I had.

I am wanting atleast 8 channels with 8 cameras. I want the system to be the newest NVR 1080p setup with POE. I am new to most of this so I need some advice on which company is best and which setup is the best deal. I am unaware of any "deals" going on right now but I have no time to wait cause I want to catch these thieves.

First setup I was looking at is the- Swann 8 Channel HD 3MP NVR Security System with 2TB HDD and 4 1080p Cameras for $1,199 and I would need to add 4 more cameras which would make it additional $700 for a total of $1,900 for this setup

Second one I was looking at is the- Q-See 8 Channel HD NVR Security System with 2TB HDD and 8 1080p IP Cameras for $1,599. This setup would be around $300 cheaper then the Swann Setup. Is Q-see as good as a setup as the Swann?

Third setup is the- Lorex 16 Channel Full HD NVR Security System with 3TB HDD and 9 1080p Cameras for $1,999- This one is $100 more then the Swann Setup but you would have 9 cameras instead of 8 and 3 of those cameras are the dome cameras (which are more expensive right?) and this setup would be expandable to 16 if I ever decided to add more (I think 8 is plenty but I am sure you all have heard that before)

Which do you think is the best brand? Which is the best deal after looking at brands and prices?

Thank You all for the help!!

Jamie

To me it's actually tough because all those choices can be good and less than good for different reasons. One constant, no matter which you choose, is where you buy it. I'd sooner buy from a smaller reputable retailer than a costco or big box store. Yes, the big box stores have amazing prices on stuff every so often. It's tempting. But lost is the close relationship you build with a smaller scale, hands on person. And once you have that and you purchase a number of things from them, they in turn usually give you what amounts to substantial price breaks too. The big box stores put a hurt on the smaller operations. I prefer to give my business to the smaller shops and I appreciate that they know their product- they have a vested interest in it. After the issue of where to buy, is what to buy. In analog and mega pixel, I still prefer dahua. I like their operating system and GUI. I like that they have a wide choice of cameras and I like the quality I see from their 2mp cameras. I also like the examples I've seen from hikvision [swann & lorex], but I'm not sold on their operating system or nvr capabilities. So what to buy is up to you and what you choose after reading up. But personally, I'd steer clear of big box deals. It's just a company pushing out product they have no clue about. You want more after purchase support than that. In my opinion, of course.
