cirtemid 0 Posted November 14, 2013 Hello. I am using a Swann DVR-4000. I am interested in using the NTP server function to always maintain the time, but the manual says not to use NTP with DST. Will NTP change the time when DST starts and ends? If not, is there a way to turn off NTP when DST adjustments come around? The only options I see with NTP are Sync and Apply. I haven't touched either of those yet. Thanks.
ssnapier 0 Posted November 16, 2013 That is crazy talk! If you use a decent NTP server, it will handle the dang DST adjustments for you! 0.pool.ntp.org 1.pool.ntp.org 2.pool.ntp.org use those!
cirtemid 0 Posted November 16, 2013 Thank you for that info. Ok, so presently the setup is as follows: NTP Server: pool.ntp.org NTP Port: 123 So looking at the information you gave me, if I start adding additional DVRs, should I do the setup like below? DVR #1 NTP Server: 0.pool.ntp.org NTP Port: 123 DVR#2 NTP Server: 1.pool.ntp.org NTP Port:
ssnapier 0 Posted November 18, 2013 You can use the same server for all of them if you wish. Some DVR's give you options for more than one NTP server which is why I gave you so many.
cirtemid 0 Posted January 3, 2014 Thanks. I finally got my other DVR and set both of them to use NTP; same ports and all. I appreciate the help on this.
