almelst 1 Posted November 18, 2013 I want to record PC's screen output on Hikvision NVR. My idea is to set VLC stream output which is compatible with Hikvision NVR, so it can be recorded, but I'm not sure if it is possible. Usage? Simple POS surveillance, I use VGA to Video converter on analog systems and want to move to IP systems. Any solution?
Swann Tech 0 Posted November 20, 2013 Sounds like an overly complicated solution for a simple problem. I would just get some screen recording software and have it record to a secured NAS. Much easier to do and probably more flexible too.
Securame 0 Posted November 20, 2013 I pretty much doubt that Hikvision NVRs can record from a RTSP stream, someone correct me if I am wrong.

ak_camguy 0 Posted November 20, 2013 I was curious about this myself so I tried... Doesn't work. The codec that hikvision utilizes VLC doesn't recognize. I went with the screen capture software method.
