Need suggestions

Hello all,

 

I need a little help designing a system. What we have now consists of 2 cameras w/mics going into an A/B switch, the switch going into a VCR (not for recording, just to make the signal usable), the VCR going into a splitter that goes to a PC for recording, and 4 separate offices for viewing.

 

What we want is to record from both cameras simultaneously, w/audio, and have the ability for each office to view the cameras independently from each other, or view both cameras at the same time. I am not a security/camera guy, so I'm a little confused. I'm thinking a camera server may be the best bet, but I'm not really sure.

 

Also, I think I need to stay below $1000.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm leaning towards this video server, http://www.axis.com/products/cam_p7214/index.htm. What's the best way to record both cams w/audio at the same time?

You can use Axis Camera Companion software (free), to record and view the signal from that encoder, if you put a SD card in it for recording.

 

You could also use various brands of software compatible with that encoder, installed on a PC, to record and view the cameras. (Milestone, Avigilon, Exacq, etc).

Why don't you make it compliacted, you just input those two camera to a DVR which support RCA( Audio) then you hook up networking then you can do what you want.
