safetygirl 0 Posted November 24, 2013 Hello...I have been searching...and searching...for what I want. And I can't seem to find it, or I don't know what I'm looking for because I don't speak the "spec" language... So I'm asking here in case anyone can help. I need 2 home security cameras. Outdoor, night vision, wireless, and capable of recording for long periods of time. I can't tell most of the time if the cameras I am looking at actually record or just monitor; and if they do record, I can't tell what is required of me in order to get them to. I want a system that comes with the DVR or whatever I need to keep track of my recordings. I'm being stalked and harassed and I want to catch this person, so I need it all to be recorded somehow in a way where I can access it. I would prefer to spend under 350, but am willing to spend up to 450. Please if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
shockwave199 0 Posted November 24, 2013 Is this your home or an apartment? Can't run wires to the outside? Even wireless cameras have a power wire, so it still presents a problem of wiring. This system, when ordering it with a 500gb hard drive will run you just under 500 bucks. You can also look for a coupon code at coupon sites for them and you can probably knock off 5% of the price. This will give you day/night vision cameras, a large hard drive to easily watch recordings, all the wire you need, and the power adapter for the cameras. It's a complete 4 camera set and support is great too. You just need a 17" or 19" monitor to hook up to the dvr. Hope it works out for you. http://www.securitycameraking.com/complete-4-channel-elite-mini-59022-prd1.html
safetygirl 0 Posted November 24, 2013 It's for my house. Thanks for the link and your responses. No electrical plugs outside. So there are no security cameras that won't require an electrical plug? The one you sent me, is that wireless? thanks again.
shockwave199 0 Posted November 24, 2013 No, it's not wireless. All cameras need power, which necessitates wires. And since wireless isn't nearly as good or reliable in terms of picture feed and the fact that you have to run wires anyway, you should really install wired cameras for the best results. RVT 0 Posted November 24, 2013 At the price limit you've set, you're not going to get "wireless" (which would require batteries, solar panels, etc.). So, you have to run wires to the cameras but this does not require plugs on the outside of the house. The power supply(s) would be located inside the home and wire ran to the cameras outside. There are a lot of variables in a situation like this. What you really need is someone that is experienced to look over your particular setup. You said this was a case of stalking so you *might* be able to get some personalized help from law enforcement, or perhaps an organization that helps with cases like this. That would depend on where you live and what resources are available.
