Horizontal Lines with Hikvision Dome 2.8mm DS-2CD2132-I

Recommended Posts

I have 3 Hikvision Dome 2.8mm DS-2CD2132-I cameras, 1 has a horizontal line problem, and 2 of them don't. All running on FW V5.0.2 130805, Main Stream as 1920x1080, Variable, 30FPS, Highest Quality, 4096 Max bit rate, and H.264.

I am wondering if the problematic one might be defective, or maybe it is just where it is mounted or the dome interfering? It is mounted in a corner with walls on either side.

If you watch the video below, if I increase the brightness above 20, it gets some horizontal lines towards the bottom third of the screen. And if I increase the brightness more, the lines move up further (problem camera is "Back Deck"). Also in the video, you can see the 2 other identical cameras, which don't exhibit this problem with high brightness ("Front Door" & "Garage").

I browsed and didn't find a thread with this problem, so sorry if this has been answered, and I hope this is the right forum area.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't think that your cam is defective, I think is just way it handles noise reduction and exposure value, I had similar effect on some IQeye cams. To be sure, just take one of your other cams and change place with this "defective"

I get similar lines, not like that though.

I have the gain set to 75%.

This is in firmware v5.0.5, not in the one you used.

It seems I only get the gain when I force day or night mode, but currently I have it on Auto.

I looked at the 5.0.5 FW, and some say it is buggy, so I will just keep checking for FW updates, and in the meantime, reach out to Hikvision Support.

I had the exact same problem with my Lorex domes. I took off the dome and cleaned the inside and out and it fixed the problem. Not sure if it was a dust particle or what, but the lines were gone. While you are in there, fluff the foam pads to avoid IR leak.

Great tip, I will clean the inside of the dome.

I don't recall seeing any foam pads, but will look.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Tried the cleaning, and no dice. I even switched the clear dome with another identical unit and no dice.

So I switched cameras, and the swapped camera was fine, so I am sending back the defective unit and have another on the way.
