8Channel DVR recording is 25FPS on 1 channel, 6FPS on...?

According to Qvis DVR description here says that 8Channel DVR recording is 25FPS on 1 channel, 6FPS on all other channels.

 

So, even if there only 4 cameras installed on the 8channel DVR, the video recording would be 25fps for one camera and for the remaining 3 cameras would be 6fps? And what about if you install only 5 cameras? How the frames would be distributed?

 

I am really confused Anyone could help would appreaciate.

Quick answer is, only invest in a dvr that truly gives D1 30fps recording on each channel, period. Don't buy anything less at this point.

 

My now retired qsee 408 did D1 30fps on the first two channels only. So, I had to balance out all 8 channels. I ended up at 24fps on the first two channels and the rest had a mix of frame rates from 10-17 at HD1. My more important cameras had the higher frame rates. Even though high frame rates aren't crucial, don't spend the money on a dvr with limitations these days. D1 30fps recording on all channels only. Then you can dial down if you care to. My 2 cents anyway.

I see your point. A 25fps would be enough for each camera on a 4 channel dvr. But if I go for more than 4 cameras then I should make sure to get a dvr with D1 30fps recording on each channel.

 

Could you suggest any dvr from ebay/amazon uk? I am new to this and wouldn't want to make any fault.

The qvis you have listed is the old dahua lite cheapest they do and over prised on ebay.

Hi tomcctv. I can afford up to 400GBP for a dvr and up to 600GBP for a full system along with 5 cameras.

After a short search I did, I see that most dvrs with D1 resolution @ 30fps on each channel are too expensive and don't think I can afford them.

 

I was thinking of buying two separated 4 channels instead which will give me 25fps at each channel on 5 or even 8 cameras. I will just need two different monitors which is not really a problem. I know, that's not the best solution but it could fit to this case I guess. Anyone can think of any reasons that this approach would be a mistake?

I can agree to Tomcctv in that the model seems to be old. Such a odd number of frames for DVR can be explained in that the CoDec engine(chip) was not powerful enough to compress all 8 channels as 30 FPS each. And more channels gets more prices from the market even with such a low grade codec engine. Also uneven number of recording frames per each channel could easily present problems at the time of playing back recorded frame as these frames are unsynchronized, without good firmware supported.

Less frame rates (7~ 30) seems OK for your application, but buy new DVR models if you can, as the DVR prices have fallen down too much, well in your budget.

thanks for your reply. You all guys are right and appreciate your help a lot. However, no one guides me by giving me some links/guidelines from where I can buy such dvr.

 

As I said I am new in this area and don't know much about it. I searched Internet and read and understood about the importance of frames/sec, CIF vs D1 resolution etc. I just can't find a good product to buy (on ebay or amazon UK) or they are too expensive. If you are aware of any dvr or full kit in my budget please let me know.

We all do not like to see this precious site to be contaminated with floods of advertisements. That may explain why we do not link the exact items. As to DVR, all the chip sets are the same if you open the DVR box. Therefore, it all depends on tech support you can get from. You may not be able to get help from big brands.

If I am in your shoes, I will try to search for the products from small or midsized, Korean or Taiwan companies, who are still actively moving forwards.
