tdoom15 0 Posted December 11, 2013 We are putting together a small security system for our building. Where we sit in our office park, we have the ability to mount a camera to capture all incoming traffic in and out of the park. I have a couple questions and hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. 1.) The camera I'm talking about above would need to be able to clearly capture license plate numbers during the day and night. Suggestions? 2.) We will also be putting up one other outdoor camera, and 3 indoor cameras. The quote we have gotten so far is for the Honeywell HB75, and from my research it doesn't look like it will reach the distance we need it to at night to capture LP #s, but it looks like it will be able to handle the 3 inside cameras and front door duty outside just fine? Are these decent cameras? We are quoted at $225/each installed which seems reasonable to me, but if not let me know. 3.) Needs: We don't need anything fancy, just the ability to see relatively clear with fluid motion. We'd like to be able to watch the feed from our smartphones and/or computers remotely. We were quoted a 1TB harddrive (8 channel $715 installed), how much does this transfer into stored video space? We want to be able to go back probably about a week or so. Any recommendations on a system or brand, or do you guys think the Honeywell will be suffice? Thanks in advance.
SectorSecurity 0 Posted December 11, 2013 I have never understood how people can throw out a price and say your camera will be 225 installed, I have had cameras that take 30 minutes to install and others take 3 hours, but that is just me. for 4 cameras 1TB will be more then enough to go back a week or more. The honeywell stuff is not top of the line, but since I don't know your budget I can't recommend anything different.
tdoom15 0 Posted December 11, 2013 We would be willing to spend maybe $4-500 on the camera to capture LP #s And I'm guessing probably $100-150 on the camera itself for the others (not including install)
myiicu 0 Posted December 12, 2013 The Bosch REG-X-816-XE LPR camera is a little bit above your budget but will meet your needs. http://products.boschsecurity.us/en/TAMS/products/bxp/SKU17317619312955182603-P1 A choking point is required to slow down to 50mph or less. The LPR camera should be mounted no more than 5 feet above the ground (lower the better), face the licence plate directly, and be around 20 feet away. You will also still require a colour overview camera to capture other details such as make, model etc.
