venturis 0 Posted December 15, 2013 Brought two new Hikvision 2.8mm dome IP cameras from seller on Aliexpress. When I mounted them temporarily to test and find the best mounting location I noticed that one of the cameras produced a very "soft" image on the left hand side then compared to the other camera when looking at almost the same subject. I contacted the vendor and mentioned that I thought one of the cameras is out of focus but the looked at my sample images and came back stating that it was "normal" and that if I swapped the two cameras around I would find the same result with the other camera. Now, when I look at the image produced by my second 2.8mm Hikvision Dome IP camera it is crystal clear from left to right and top to bottom of the image...very good contrast and I can see very fine detail in the trees and grass. The suspect camera is very sharp on the RHS of the image but tends to soft as you move towards the LHS to the point where the definition in the trees and grass is lost. Am I being too picky and is this a "normal" effect. I've attached a couple of samples below....CAMERA 1 is the good camera....CAMERA 2 is the suspect camera. Appreciate any feedback. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q25glxui64hp02i/Day%20Time%20Camera%201.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/hts2qaa6r6zquqr/Day%20Time%20Camera%202.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/j3ohdo80j4wwe4h/Evening%20Camera%201.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/qsulnzu3kvrkwdw/Evening%20Camera%202.jpg
icamera 0 Posted December 15, 2013 If you are unhappy. Return the one you dont like. Simple. I'm not sure its too bad - it it noticeable though. If you are a perfectionist like I'am you will probably return it.
luckyfella 0 Posted December 15, 2013 That is a normal response and honestly it does not look valid enough to remove the camera and ship it back for a new one IMO.
MaxIcon 0 Posted December 15, 2013 There was an issue with the Swann branded Hik 2032 bullets when they first came out where the focus was soft on the left side. Swann replaced the cameras for people who complained, I believe. Yours definitely shows softness on the left edge. Whether it's acceptable depends on your needs. Whether it's worth returning depends on the costs and overhead of returning stuff to an Aliexpress vendor.
Securame 0 Posted December 16, 2013 That looks pretty normal to me. If they were my cameras, I would not even bother changing one for the other.
venturis 0 Posted December 18, 2013 After much consideration I decided to ship it back. For some reason the focus issue really shows up much more pronounced when viewing the Sub-Stream. When looking at the two cameras (good / bad) side by side on my Ipad or Iphone the out of focus camera just looks terrible. The picture is a complete blur. For some reason the sub-stream seems to suffer much more due to the poor focus than the Main Stream does. Also, when using the digital zoom to zero in on part of the picture you really seem the difference that the focus makes. With the good camera, I can use the digital zoom to read a number plate on a nearby car....with the bad camera, the number plate is illegible. I think its worth the $25-$30 to ship it back even though its about 20% of the original cost.
luckyfella 0 Posted December 18, 2013 The sub stream is a lower resolution. It's meant for mobile devices such as phones and tablets. That's why it's even more blurry in case you were wondering.

dirkdaring 0 Posted January 3, 2014 Looks like Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I. They do look good!
AdamDaze 0 Posted January 3, 2014 Going by his post history, it's the Hikvision 2CD3332 cameras...aka 2CD2332. seperate lense/ir eliminates the 2132's "bleed' issues at night.
