ssgohan434 0 Posted December 22, 2013 Been reading the IP camera section of this forum lately and I'm finally ready to take the plunge. I've been looking to move into an all Acti cam solution and utilize their VMS software on a PC to do the recording. The trouble I'm having is that the existing DVR system in place utilizes AVE VSI pros on the Gilbarco Passport register to overlay text from the register on to one of the cameras. The site owner requires the text inserter and won't give it up no matter how much of an increase in quality the actual cameras produce. Are there any text inserter solutions designed for IP/NVR use yet? Would the best solution be to use the TCD-2100 encoder to convert the analog stream to IP? buellwinkle 0 Posted December 22, 2013 Yes, ACTi has POS integration but don't believe it's in the free software, may have to get their Retail NVR. This is the brochure on the ACTi Retail solution. http://www.acti.com/Solution/ACTi_Retail_Solution_Guide101221.pdf You can send text to the ACTi camera for the on screen display via URL commands, but you would have to develop the script code to that. For example, if the register allows you to send text as user configurable URL, then you may be able do that easily. Also, besides Avigilon software, there's Milestone XProtect Retail that can run on Milestone Express Edition. Neither solution will be cheap, but they will likely do what he wants to do which is show the register receipt in the image. ssmith10pn 0 Posted December 23, 2013 In the IP world there is no text overlay like analog had. Most receipt printers still use RS232 (DB9) connections. You tap that port and use a serial server to send the data back to the video server via IP.
