JohnSmtihh2 0 Posted December 25, 2013 I found good deal on 2MP (1920x1080p) as well as 1.3 MP (1280x720p) IP cameras, however they both use CMOS sensors, as matter of fact company only offer CCD for low resolution cameras and anything higher uses CMOS. Based on numerous dated articles online CCD has better colors etc, however i wonder if this still true for current CMOS by Sony? http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/technology/technology/theme/cmos_01.html
SunnyKim 2 Posted December 25, 2013 JohnSmtihh2 The video quality of CMOS sensor has improved a lot with recent deployments on smart phones. Not many complaints over its video quality from the smart phones. It would keep moving up, being driven by such a huge market. CCD sensor has, in fact, disadvantages in reducing Fab cost for mass production. Even Sony may have dropped R&D for CCD sensor for a large Mega pixels, as far as I understand. It may follow the same fate as Plasma TV against LCD/LED TV.
