destro_23 0 Posted January 1, 2014 Just wondering how you would set up a NAS / acti cameras / then the main software. Would the cameras still record to the NAS if the server software was off? or do i still need a PC running no matter what? just trying to cut out the PC if possible
buellwinkle 0 Posted January 1, 2014 You can FTP motion detect events but with FTP you have to manage the disk, meaning if you let it get full it will stop.
destro_23 0 Posted January 6, 2014 i guess no way to do it i'll keep the main server and have all storage to to NAS or just buy an acti DVR and get it over it. Just looking to have the smallest/simplest setup for a dvr
buellwinkle 0 Posted January 6, 2014 I had one of those small net top computers with an Atom processor running ACTi NVR software for over a year and worked well. They make them where they attach to the VESA mounting holes on the back of the TV, so can't get much smaller than that.
destro_23 0 Posted January 6, 2014 And for storage? did you do NAS? Any recommendations?
Gill22 0 Posted January 9, 2014 I would say ..get a synology nas..something like 1512 or 1812..its got inbuilt surveillance software (surveillance station) and pretty good CPU and processing power for 5 - 8 cameras. but the downside is you have to pay for the licenses for each camera = $59. first one is free.. buellwinkle 0 Posted January 9, 2014 I would use local disk with ACTi NVR.
