milkisbad 0 Posted January 9, 2014 I'm looking to provide some protection for a camera installation job done near the coast, the cameras are rated IP 66 and made of Aluminium. Has anyone have experience with such a requirement? I would put them in a housing if that model of camera has one that fits...perhaps I can protect the outside with some WD-40? I do plan to go back every so often to maintain them. Thank you for any ideas.
the toss 0 Posted January 10, 2014 You can get stainless housings to suit most full bodied cameras but they cost a fortune. I have an installation at a local marina using aluminium housings and they oxidise fairly quickly (Chinese aluminium ). These housings are simply replaced on an annual basis. milkisbad 0 Posted January 15, 2014 Thanks Toss, I tested a camera and it fits into the housing after I removed the sunshield and junction boxes that came with the camera. its a hikvision bullet camera with a single Ex-IR. Hopefully it'll last against the air.
