evening chaps, iv recently taken over a new job and thery've got a little ecosense 6 channel dvr there, alls working ok but we have a problem with unknown passwords. iv tried the dm and web username/password but it don't work. we're pulling our hair out. the only thing we can think off is a recovery disc from dm but im guessing that's going to cost a few bob. any clues how to unlock or remove them please?

sorry this is late but I may have a solution

If it is on the network then use putty to telnet into the unit if you can get in then run the following commands

cd hdd0
cd etc
del user.db
reset

 

the dvr will restart with no passwords, I have done this on several sd dvrs and dv-ip units, so should work on the ecosense.

 

if the is a password on telnet then you can try replacing the hdd as the password database is stored on it but it is a bit of a pain to do.

hopefully they did not set a telnet password
