avcom 0 Posted January 19, 2014 We are not a "usual" user of CCTV style products but have been experimenting with some for a particular project. One thing I've found is that it appears that it is impossible (by design?) to back focus a "vari-focal" lens. When you do get focus it has limited depth-of-field. Does anyone know of a 1/3" megapixel zoom lens that will back focus? Also, is there a way to increase depth-of-filed using a CCTV style box camera? Thanks so much for your assistance. varascope 0 Posted January 20, 2014 NationalSecurityTech.com has Megapixel lenses that provide backfocus with their box cameras, not all but some models. They also carry zoom auto-focus camera with RS485 for remote connection. The auto focus seems sensitive enough to adjust properly. They also recommend using the next size up lens for the box cameras. You can research 1/2" or 3/4" Megapixel lenses on a 1/3" camera. This will increase your depth of field. We use their test monitor that has a built in focus meter to dial in focus that works great for day and night shots.
