jr219 0 Posted January 19, 2014 We have not yet selected cameras but they were going to insulate this building and needed to get the boxes installed under the eves for 6 security cameras around a commercial building. Once they spray foam everything it will be difficult to get to the events without disturbing everything. We installed 4" square electrical boxes w/ double gang 5/8" mud rings on them. I am now second guessing this decision since I'm not certain the cameras we go with (something IP, Axis, Bosch or Samsung?) will all mount up to these mud rings/boxes. It's also that aluminum soffit material which is a total pain to get put back in place once you take it out.. Do most domes mount to a regular junction box ok? thanks, -jr
varascope 0 Posted January 20, 2014 Cameras rarely do. You will need the box space for your connectors and need to drill holes in your NEMA cover. Make sure to use silicon for the edges and heat shrink for your connectors. Dielectric gel is also good for the copper connectors.
