Jasper 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Yeah. I have a Beta of it. Haven't used it yet though.
Jasper 0 Posted January 11, 2006 What is that supposed to mean? MS stole the ideas from them. They have been doing that since the beginning. I haven't used an Apple since the IIe, but that was because the IBM clones came out and Apple was propritery at the time. I wouldn't mind using one, but I am wrapped up in the IBM clones now. I loved that Apple though. It was capable of a lot of things the systems at the time couldn't do.
kandcorp 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Got the BETA about 5 months ago. Basically it will be replacing XP. I ran it on a PC for testing purposes for about 4 weeks. I really enjoyed it. Some really different, new features. IE7 was cool to. And i guess the ENTIRE windows file system has changed. Really couldn't test it to its full potential because the lack of Windows Vista Drivers (sound, video, etc.)
Thomas 0 Posted January 11, 2006 It's a prettier verison of XP. The MS OSX comment is that they take a few more cues from Apple about the UI. The WinFS system isn't ready and will be an "add-on" after Vista is released. As far as Apples go, my wife has a Powerbook and it's pretty nice. The UI is snappy and responsive. It's pretty easy to learn and it has some Unix stuff under the hood for power users.

Jasper 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Now you know better than that. Obtain it the legal way and don't talk about it
rory 0 Posted January 12, 2006 is it still in beta, is it free, is it a full version, does it have drivers et all ??
Jasper 0 Posted January 12, 2006 It is free to partners and developers, but not to the general public. It is for testing and to allow developers to write drivers that will work with it. I'm sure you would be eligble to receive a copy if you wanted to try it, but it might not support all your devices. You can tryi it if it is not a hassle to put your system back to the way it was. Jasper 0 Posted January 12, 2006 A lot of the new stuff in Vista is already available as add on software to Windows XP. I like performance so I don't care about all of the visual changes they made to make it look better. First thing I would do is disable all the crap.
