HikVision DS-2CD2132-I Windows share

I currently have a couple of y-cams and they are able to record on a Windows (7) network share

 

I want to buy a DS-2CD2132-I for outdoor recording but I can't figure out if it is able to record to a windows network share.

 

Can somebody help me?

Yes, in theory 5.1 can record to an SMB/CIFS mount. Works for some, not others.

The reason why it works for some and not others is likely due to the way Hikvision detects the free space available on a share.

 

If you have trouble, make sure the share is on a server partition with nothing else on (either in the share or on the server partition).

Does that mean you need one partition per camera or can you use a single partition with multiple shares, each dedicated to a camera?

One share on one partition always seems to work.

Multiple shares on one partition doesn't always (if ever?) work.

Let me know. I want to use it with a Netgear ReadyNAS but have not looked into if I can create separate partitions on it. I'm hoping they get this fixed in the next firmware version, maybe a 5.1.1.

Well so far, I wouldn't advice anyone to buy this cam if you just want to have it record to a Windows share.

This is the steps I took:

 

- Enter the share in the NAS Section adres: 192.168.1.10 /hikvision (SMB-CIFS)

(hikvision is a shared folder on the D drive, accessable anywhere in the lan as \\192.168.1.10\hikvision

- next you have to format this share (why??) and it creates datadir0 - datadir8. Reports 130GB cap, 67GB free (no where close but whatever)

- It fills the datadirs up with a whole bunch of 0 kb files

- It records 1 minute file named hiv00000

- that's it

- If you reopen de NAS section, you have to do the formatting again.

- Let's compare to my y-cam: Enter windows share. Save settings. Done

After some further working on the problem, I changed a HEX key in davince.tar.gz by connecting to the cam with telnet.

Now the cam "remembers" the share and it starts recording like it should.

 

on the plus side, this cam has a very nice wide angle view, clear picture, nice price.

telnet into the device, copy /dav/davinci.tar.gz to your network share (‘mount’ tells you the directory). open the file with a hex editor, (install hex plugin in notepad++) search this hexadecimal string:

5001D4C09DE52C00001A07005CE12A00001A

replace with:

5001D4C09DE50000000007005CE100000000

save. copy the file from the network share back to /dav, reboot the device.
